    Whatever I Please...

Since this photo's topic is "Whatever I Please," I'm posting a throwback picture of my siblings and I. They're going to kill me because of it, but I don't care.
This is how I remember us when I was little.

Every night, I set out all four kids' clothes, so that it makes the morning a little easier, especially since half of the kids are still asleep when the other half awaken.
Having a large family warrants that I do this each night...for my own sanity.
I set out my own clothes, too.  It just makes life a little easier each day.
I highly recommend doing this, if you don't already.

This is a picture of Saturday night's moon.  I took it with my Nikon D80.

    Looking Back...

It's hard for me to believe I ever survived having four children in four years.
Wow.  Just wow.  Even now, I'm still trying to wrap my head around that.
I love them so much.  I'd never change a thing about my life.

My daughter, Liv, sees this every morning.  It's her self-portrait that she created for the front of her locker.
    Cool stuff.

    Listening To...

This is 98.7FM in Chicago.  It's a classical music radio station and it's the only one I ever listen to when I'm in the car.  I prefer classical music to any other kind, which is probably where my son Jack gets his love of classical music.  Apples don't fall far.  Just recently, I've become very interested in Jewish operas.  I just love them.  Shocked?

This photo is about the absence of people...
Finally, there are no dipshits parked next to my house, namely the idiots with the seven cars across the street. Amazing!

It's been raining cats and dogs here lately.  And it's been unseasonably warm, too!
Today is supposed to be 80 degrees.  WHAT?!
Knowing Chicago, how much do you want to bet it'll be cold on Halloween?

    The View From Here...

This is the view from my classroom.
It can be very peaceful, especially if there's an impending storm.

    In My Town...

We have quite a few regular panhandlers, which we see quite often in the same spots.
This one is Shaky Keys (we've named him that; don't ask why) and he looks eerily similar to one of Hubby's brothers (20 years from now).  This poor man is a hot mess.  I hope he has somewhere to go in winter.

Taking a leisurely autumn stroll with my girls...
It's as calm as it gets.

    4 O'Clock...

This is what time I wake up every morning.  I may have to make it five minutes earlier, though.  That extra five minutes really makes a difference.  While it's not four o'clock exactly like the title of this post suggests, it's close enough for me.  Plus, I'm posting this at 4 a.m.  Heh.

Crate & Barrel, DePaul University, the IFT, and CPS...

    Made Me Smile Today...

Hubby playing a game of Candyland with Liv while Liesl and Leia look on with admiring eyes...
    Life can be sooooooo good.

Apples are Liv's choice of fruit these days for a very good reason.
She finally has her FIRST loose tooth and she can't wait for it to get out!
    Yay for apples!

    Something I Wrote...

This is my students' schedule and it's posted in the back of my classroom.
    And, yes, that's my writing.

    Monday, October 15, 2012

There's leftover pizza and tortellini salad for dinner.
After yesterday's birthday party for Liesl and Leia, there is more than enough food for us to eat today...and tomorrow...and for lunch all week for me.  And we still have half a birthday cake left.  Heh.

    Makes Me Laugh...

Liv made me two tickets to the gun show.
I have no idea where that idea came from, but I chuckled when she gave them to me.

    Hiking in the Northwoods...
Jack's leading the pack, but you can barely see him.  I guess I shouldn't have dressed him in dark green that day.  Heh.

    On The Table...

This is my dining room table at 6:30pm every evening.
Our backpacks and jackets are set up (Jack's, Liv's, and mine) for the next morning. Plus we have a lovely basket of gourds right now. And let's not forget the napkins that we run through like water.
It may look messy, but it's not. We have a system around here, you know.

    Something Close-Up...

A dead cicada in my hand...  Ack!

    Wednesday, October 10, 2012

Jack was making dozens of baskets while we were at the vacation house this summer.
Looking at the picture, you can see his smile and feel his pride.  He was a very happy boy!
If this picture doesn't depict "emotion," I don't know what does.

    How's THAT for an angle?
I was 34 weeks pregnant with my twins in this picture.  I delivered them two weeks after this picture was taken.  If you don't think it was possible to get bigger with child(ren) than this, you are sadly mistaken.  Heh.  Good times, people.  Good times.  Glad that's over.

My Liv in zombie make-up that she applied herself.
I love the way the light is hitting her here in our kitchen.

I'm Thankful For... who love to read as much as I do.
    Apples don't fall far.

This is my dear friend E's dog, Shadow.  He looks just like Java.
    We're suckers for Chocolate Labs.

    Today's Post #2 - What You Read...

    This is Jack's class pledge.
We read it every day.  He writes it, understands it, and it proud of his work.
He does "poetry in motion" with it (body and hand movements).
    It's absolutely precious.
I wish this hung up in all classrooms everywhere.

    Liesl & Leia's 3rd Birthday...

Three years ago today, I became a mother of multiples.
It's hard to believe that three years have gone by so quickly.  They are "kids" now, no longer babies.
Liesl and Leia are best friends and mortal the same minute.
They are twins, but they are nothing alike...right down to their different blood types.  They just happened to be two separate pregnancies that occurred at the same exact time.  It still amazes me.  As they get older, their personality differences are more apparent and they are continuing to find themselves each day.

Liesl and Leia are three years old today.  I keep telling myself that, but I still can't quite wrap my head around it.  They aren't babies anymore, but they are to me.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Liesl and Leia!
You keep bringing so much joy to this family. babies.

    What Happened Today...

My niece went into labor yesterday and has a beautiful baby boy to snuggle today.
Life doesn't get any better than that.
Congrats to Caitie, Koby, and (the new big brother) Owen!

My favorite lunch is plain homemade yogurt, some of this Kashi, and a sliced banana.
Best lunch ever!  You should try it.  I eat it several times a week.

    Where I Stood...

In the spirit of October's Photo A Day challenge, I am up for it.

For seven days, I stood and I walked on the picket line in the first Chicago teachers' strike in 25 years.
    I am proud of that.
