    Upside Down...

One wayward Hello Kitty, found upside down in a pile...
    Poor kitty!

    Playing...

As is his nighttime routine, Jack sits at the kitchen table, plays on his Innotab 2S, and eats Goldfish crackers.
Like clockwork.  It's his winding down time after a long day of learning.

    Quiet...

My boy has so much to say and is rarely ever quiet for long.
He says it with his voice, his eyes, his body, and his smile.
I soooooo love him and all I have learned from him.
I wouldn't trade him for the world.

    On My Bedside Table...

No bedside table for me; just one very tired Chocolate Labrador with her head under the bed!
    Long day at Grandma's house...

    Cloud...

    I love making word clouds!
This is one I made using the URL of this blog.

    A Word...

I love writing this word on the dry erase calendar in my kitchen.
It means I can pretend to sleep late.
When is Spring Break?  Anyone know?

    Full...

    Meet Leia.
She is always hungry and never full.
She has a grown man's appetite.  Heh.

    Makes Me Smile...

My daughter, Liv, is a voracious reader.
Nothing makes me smile more than her choosing NOT to watch TV just so she can read a book that's 150 pages long.  And, yes, she understands what she's reading.
This girl is 6 and reads at a 5th grade level.  I tested her myself.  I guess I shouldn't be too surprised since her mother IS a reading teacher and a voracious reader, as well.  Apples don't fall far.

    Where I Stood...

    In my classroom...
    Exciting, huh?

    I Am...

    ...so tired.
    I can't imagine why.
    (insert sarcasm here)

    Something I Don't Like...

I absolutely hate having to explain to a class why they're getting this letter sent home.
And I absolutely hate seeing these critters.
It makes my skin crawl.  Ack!

    In My Hand...

Being a teacher AND having four young children of my own,
we can never, ever run out of hand sanitizer.
I even have a bottle on my desk at work.  Schools are, in fact, petri dishes.

    Perfect...

Java is in her spot.  It's at the foot of our bed.
It's not perfect for US, but it is perfect for HER.

    Inside My Fridge...

I always make my lunch the night before.
I have chicken salad mixed with hummus (instead of mayo) on a bed of mixed greens
with a sprinkling of sunflower seeds.
    Yummy!

    Love Is...

    She's earned it!

    Walking...

I remember just how hard something simple like walking was when I was pregnant with the twins.
Hours after this picture was taken, my girls were born.
It doesn't seem that long ago.

    Where I Ate Lunch...

Always at my desk, never in the teachers lounge...

    Entrance...

This is the entrance to Jack's bedroom.
Jack's birthday present from my Mom and my brother was this door
with the wall you see in the picture.  Jack's room never had a wall or a door before.  It was a wide open space, which was not conducive to any sort of privacy whatsoever.
With three younger sisters, a guy has got to have a space to call his own.  It's always been his room and it's a good sized one.  However, he never had the luxury of closing a door to keep his meddling sisters out of his stuff.  So, the picture you see above is the best present he's ever gotten his entire life and one he will use every single day.  It's one of the few things he's ever asked for in all of his eight years.  He's like a new kid now.

    Dad...

Today would have been my Dad's 72nd birthday.
We miss him so much.  November 2nd still seems like yesterday.
To celebrate his life, we decided to have Jack's 8th birthday party on this day.
I think Dad would have liked that.
I love you, Dad.  I'm hoping you'll make an appearance today in some way.
    Happy Birthday, Dad!

    3 O'Clock...

This is the time I live for each day.
    Dismissal time.  Heh.

    Guilty Pleasure...

I made this smoothie with tons of mixed greens, berries, Greek yogurt, and coconut milk.
It was so thick, that I had to eat it with a spoon!
    It became "dessert."

It's not really a guilty pleasure, but it sure gave me the feeling of having one.  Heh.

    My Little Man...

My son Jack turns eight years old today.
Where has all that time gone?

    I love you, Little Man!
You bring so much joy to our family!
If you know Jack, you know that I am a luckier Mama than most.

    Something Orange...

This is one of my favorite pictures drawn by Liv.
I love her use of the color orange in this picture.

    My Name...

Yep, my name is on this baby!
Earned with blood, sweat, and tears.

    Soft...

Liv has THE softest jammies in the world!
    And they're cute, too!

    Something I Smelled...

Yes, that is a diaper in my kitchen garbage can.
With any luck, we won't be smelling any of those anymore.
Liesl is officially potty trained.  Leia is a work in progress.

    Hope...

I see my children and that is where hope lies.

Today, my husband and I celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary.  We've been together 20 years, yet it still, at times, seems like we met last week.  Our children are our hope for the future.
They will bring great things to this world.  I know this because of the great things
they have brought into our home.

    Fork...

    Here we go again...
    This is an OT fork.
It makes it easier for little ones to learn how to hold a fork to get the food from their plate to their mouths.
We don't even use these or their matching spoons anymore.
Sigh... Why must babies grow up?
